Our History & Recognition

Montessori School of Hong Kong, established in 1960's, is dedicated to the Montessori Philosophy and method of education in English and Chinese. The School has developed an excellent reputation during its 40 years history in Hong Kong as a vibrant international school which sets the highest standard of pre-primary school education.
For four decades, we have given the highest-quality trilingual (English, Mandarin and Cantonese) education to preschoolers, serving over
10,000 families.
We now operate ONLY at G/F, No. 37 Pokfulam Road
(junction of Bonham Road,), across the street from the
main gate of the University of Hong Kong and St. Paul
College. Our classroom is newly renovated, fully air-con,
with state-of-art automated fire protection system and an outdoor playground that give comfortable
and secured play and prepared Montessori environment.
Our school previously operated in the '90s
at G/F, Universal Trade Centre, and later at G/F, No. 5,
Caine Road, Mid-levels. Hong Kong, having provided premier
preschool education to thousands of children from diverse
cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Our new premise is a full
fledge recognized Kindergarten and providing kindergarten
education for children 3 to 6. Extra curricular
activities are provided either after school or Saturday.

Parents are advised to send in
and complete their application at least 18 months
before the child reach age of 3 to ensure the child
is on the waiting list to avoid any disappointment.
All our intake are based on first come first served
basis. We pride to highlight "Small is Beautiful",

Our School is an
active, vibrant international school for kindergarten
children (up to 6 years old) with a solid foundation of excellent facilities and administration. Montessori education at an early age provides children with a lifetime gift- the opportunity to develop their intellectual, physical, social, emotional and inner potential to the fullest. Children involved in our school are encouraged and guided towards independence and a love of learning
Our Affiliation and Recognition
Montessori School of Hong Kong was established by a group of American Montessori-trained educators. We have been registered with Education Department
as Kindergarten since the 1970's. We are the
first and the oldest Corresponding School/International Member School of the American Montessori Society® in the United States.

The habits, skills and linguistic ability which a child develops in our Montessori class are good for a lifetime. They will help him to work more efficiently, to observe more carefully, to concentrate more effectively, and to view other culture and people with tolerance, no matter where he goes. If he is in a stimulating environment, whether at home or at school, his self-education - which is the only real education - will continue...

Maria Montessori always insisted that the first six years of a child's life are the most important. These years are characterized by what she called "sensitive period" when the child demonstrates a profound interest in certain activities - socializing, movement, language development - essential to growth.
