Our History & Recognition

Montessori School of Hong Kong, established in 1960's, is dedicated to the Montessori Philosophy and method of education in English and Chinese. The School has developed an excellent reputation during its 40 years history in Hong Kong as a vibrant international school which sets the highest standard of pre-primary school education.
For four decades, we have given the highest-quality trilinguall (English, Mandarin and Cantonese) education to toddlers (aged 12 months - 24 months) and preschoolers (aged 2 - 6 years), serving over 5,000 families.
We now operate ONLY at G/F, Botanical Court, 5 Caine Road, Mid-Levels, across the street from the scenic Botanical and Zoological Gardens. Our campus has spacious, fully air-con, state-of-art automated fire protection system and an outdoor play yard that give comfortable all-day play and prepared Montessori environment.

Our Classes

Our School is an active, vibrant international school for learning creche, nursery and kindergarten (up to 6 years old) with a solid foundation of excellent facilities and administration. Montessori education at an early age provides children with a lifetime gift- the opportunity to develop their intellectual, physical, social, emotional and inner potential to the fullest. Children involved in our school are encouraged and guided towards independence and a love of learning
Our Affiliation and Recognition
Montessori School of Hong Kong was established by a group of American Montessori-trained educators. We have been registered with Education Department since the 1970's. We are also registered with the Social Welfare Department. We are the Corresponding School/International Member School of the American Montessori Society® in the United States.
Our Staff

All of our teachers have University Degrees in Education, Child Psychology and/or English, as well as formal Montessori training.

The teacher-student ratio is kept small, ranging from 1:4 in the Learning Creche to 1:8 in the kindergarten. |
We accept students of both sexes from all races, religion and national origins.

The habits, skills and linguistic ability which a child develops in our Montessori class are good for a lifetime. They will help him to work more efficiently, to observe more carefully, to concentrate more effectively, and to view other culture and people with tolerance, no matter where he goes. If he is in a stimulating environment, whether at home or at school, his self-education - which is the only real education - will continue...

Maria Montessori always insisted that the first six years of a child's life are the most important. These years are characterized by what she called "sensitive period" when the child demonstrates a profound interest in certain activities - socializing, movement, language development - essential to growth.
