私立小學、自行分配學位、及統一派位的支援及優良成效

   在過去數十年, Montessori School of Hong Kong的所有畢業學生,都能成功進入他們家長首選的小學、包括最優秀的直資小學,及私校(含在香港或海外的著名國際小學)。協助我校畢學生成功進入家長心儀的小學,一直是校方和家長的共同目標。 

   在香港申請的小一,分兩類小學: (1) 政府官小及津貼小學,和(2) 政府資助的學校(“直資”) 及私立學校(包括英基小學和其他國際小學) 。我校多年來都致力協助我們的畢業生成功進入這兩類小學中最為推崇的學校。參加申請“自行分配學位”,成功因素包括家中成員、父母和與兄弟姐妹與被申請學校的工作及在校關係。加上我校過往的優良表現和校方的全力協助,家長申請時都感覺到極滿意的表現。在申請“直資”及私立小學、和參加“統一派位” 時,Montessori School of Hong Kong的畢業生對申請首選小學的成功率幾近百份之一百。

1.      首先,我校多年來推廣Montessori的理念及優質課程使我們的校譽深為學前教育界推崇Montessori School of Hong Kong在過去數十年來的優良教學成就備受讚賞的聲譽和我校畢業生在多間箸名小學的傑出的表現和優秀的學業成績,都令我校畢業生申請入學時倍受對方教職人員重視。所以我們的學生申請的成功率是最高,幾乎每個學生都能成功進入到他們的首選學校。我校管理層多年來密切留意過往畢業生普遍視為首選的頂尖小學,並深入觀察該等學校的教學理念, 和目標。每學年初,我們將Montessori School of Hong Kong的出版物分別送到該小學的校長及校監,確保優良的Montessori School of Hong Kong之教育理今及成果能繼續受到香港學前教育界認可, 這點亦保證我校學生申請入學時受到格外的重視。

   Montessori School of Hong Kong的學生進度/評估報告給予對方學校有效的評估報告,強而有效地支援學生的入學申請。Montessori School of Hong Kong 進度/評估報告,不單在申請小一名校中有效。它在多年後時,在學生申請美國及歐洲大學時,都能對大學收生處在作出收生考慮時,提供有正面的參考價值,提升申請成功的機會。

3.     出眾的公開表達能力及面試訓練: 不少學校要求申請學生接受面試,亦有一些家長要求選擇學校進行校訪。為確保我們的學生在面試時具有充分的信心和應對能力,學校從K2開始已透過以下方式訓練學生:

a)      公共演講 - Montessori School of Hong Kong訓練學生有充分的信心和清晰表達能力。這是透過:

a)      堂上師生互動、

b)      學生小組中自我表達、

c)      分組討論、和

d)      最後在同學面前的公開發言

這些從序漸進的學習,是通過一個長期而有效的専業訓練,使學生熟習在陌生人前, 克服恐懼, 進行清晰的發言及對話,明確地打動聽眾。

 

b)      自我介紹的長期訓練  - 校方將學生的背景、 家庭、 興趣、 成就、 生活目標和未來展望的想法,編成學習材料,通過有效的長期訓練,使學生能在毫無壓力下,在任何情況下,運用標準的英語及中文(廣東話及普通話) ,清晰地表達自己。在學校面試中,他們都可以在陌生的環境下,得體地作出清的發言及討論,說明自己對某些事物的觀點。(請下載及參看[過去面試常見問題節錄])

 

c)      面試遊戲訓練  - 這是作為申請學校面試的實地訓練。老師可能邀請其他家長和外來的有面試經驗的教育人士作為 面試員 。在年中進行多次的面試遊戲,我們觀察(但絕不會批評)、鼓勵、改善和再訓練學生能夠在陌生 面試員前,作出得體、自信及清晰的發言及回覆問題。通過反復投入這種面試遊戲,學生將習慣於在面無畏色下,大方而得體地用英語及中文,清晰地向陌生的面試人員回答問題,和表達自己的想法。

 學校管理層對申請小學的支援:

    K2 的九月初,我們School Administration將與父母討論學生K3時申請小學的計畫及准備方案:

 

1.    School Administration配合家長作出努力,支援學生申請。並在K2下半年參與準備提交材料的工作。

2.    Montessori School of Hong Kong學生進度/評估報告:將同時作出詳細跟進撰寫。

APPLYING PRIMARY ONE OF LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS



     In the past years, all the graduates from our kindergarten successfully enrolled in their preferred primary schools, which have local curriculum, and international primary schools in Hong Kong and overseas. The successful placement of our students has been an important goal for our teachers and parents alike.

     There are two kinds of primary schools in Hong Kong: (1) the government and subsidized schools, and (2) directly subsidized school and independent private schools, including EPS system and other international schools. Montessori School of Hong Kong has helped our graduates to enroll successfully in both systems. In applying through the government’s Primary One Admission system, which includes Central Allocation and Discretionary Place Admission, deciding factors, include the registered address of your home, parents and sibling affiliation with the school, factors of consideration in addition to other resources and reputation of what Montessori School of Hong Kong can provide. For the application of directly subsidized schools and private schools, the successful rate of our students’ applications is close to 100%.

There are several factors that enable Montessori School of Hong Kong graduates to enroll successfully in the primary schools of their preference:

1. SCHOOL REPUTATION AND PROMOTION OF OUR CURRICULUM

     Montessori School of Hong Kong has a distinguished reputation for our Montessori program, and our distinguished graduates in the past forty years had entered and performed exceptionally well in the best primary schools in Hong Kong. The success rate of our students’ application was one of the highest, with almost every students get into their preferred schools.
 

     The School administration has received many positive comments on the philosophy and the design of our Montessori curriculum from principals of many well-known primary schools. Every year, the school administration also sent our brochure and our publications to the principals of these preferred primary schools, ensuring that the fine program of Montessori School of Hong Kong continued to be reported to and recognized by the Hong Kong education community.

2. MONTESSORI ASSESSMENT AND PROGRESS REPORT

     Montessori School of Hong Kong adopts a comprehensive Student Assessment and Progress Report based on the portfolio of the students’ academic subjects and reported progress. Our report includes the following information:

     a. The comprehensive and creative curriculum and activities that our students have gone through;
     b. Student’s resume;
     c. Student’s written note, photo, birth certificate, baptism certificate;
     d. Academic record;
     e. Certificates of achievement;
     f.  Particulars of the strength of this Montessori students; and
     g. A portfolio of his works, highlighting his special attributes.

     Our past statistics, based on our widely accepted reporting system, show that the graduates from Montessori School of Hong Kong typically ranked the highest achieving standard in:

-   Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and the ability to apply the concepts and skills effectively in diverse and complex unfamiliar situations with insight;

-   Ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate information from a wide variety of sources;

-   Ability to communicate ideas and express views concisely and logically.

     Our Montessori Assessment and Progress Report enables our School to produce an effective assessment report to support our graduates’ successful application in the best schools of their choice. Even in the future application for university entrance many years later, a positive Montessori Assessment and Progress Report has proven to be a very positive and useful record of achievement for our students in their education endeavors.

3. EXTENSIVE PREPARATION FOR INTERVIEW

     Some schools request interview of applying students, and some parents request interviews with the administration of schools of their choice. To ensure that our students handle their interviews with confidence and psychological preparation, the School has trained students starting the second year in the following ways:

(A) Public speaking – we prepare our students to express themselves with good articulation and confidence. This starts with:

     a. Teacher-student interaction,
     b. Student peer-to-peer communication,
     c. Small group discussion, and finally
     d. Presentation before the class.

     It is through a gradual but effective process that students learn to master the fear of public speaking before strangers, and to articulate effectively to impress its listeners.

(B) “About Myself” Presentation – it is a real-life role playing exercise that student develop the story about his background, family, interest, achievement, life goal and future expectation. Through the exercise, students learn to develop a theme, a story and an experience that he will be able to discuss and articulate in any situation, including school interview.

(C)  “Interview Game” – this is a game activity that the school may invite some of the parents and past parents to participate as “interviewer”. In the Interview Game, we observe, never criticize, encourage, improve and re-enact students’ expression in a typical interview setting. By going through this kind of Interview Game repeatedly, students became accustomed to articulate themselves effectively, fearlessly and proudly.

Concerted Support from School Administration


     In September of the second school year, our school administration will discuss student’s plan for primary school with their parents:

     Combined Effort between Teachers and Parents: To support students’ application, the school worked with parents to prepare the submission material of application.

(1) Tailor-made Assessment/Progress Report: The School will produce an Assessment/Progress Report of the Students as a recommendation in line with the requirements of the applied schools.

(2) Strong and effective school Commitment: It must be noted that Montessori School of Hong Kong is an elite education program and we concentrate to educate a small group of children. The school administration is dedicated to help our parents with all our effort and resources in achieving parents’ educational preference for their child. Parents will find our help and resources very instrumental in helping our graduates in continuing with premier primary schools of their choice.
